CONTACT LENS ASSESSMENT IN YOUTH

CLAY

The Contact Lens Assessment in Youth (CLAY) Study Group is comprised of contact lens educators, researchers, and clinicians across North America. The CLAY Study Group’s early research focused on determining whether youth is an independent risk factor for contact lens complications and has since expanded toward understanding risk factors associated with contact lens complications in both children and young adults to promote health contact lens wear for all ages.

Current Study

Currently, the CLAY Group is refining a risk score based upon the CLRS as well as a targeted patient education instrument, the Contact Lens Assessment and Risk Education (CARE) Report.

CLAY has been supported by an unrestricted grant from Alcon Research Institute as well as Nova Southeastern University (Pilot testing: Chancellors Research and Development Grant; Health Professions Division Research Grant). CLAY also received logistical support from the American Academy of Optometry and the American Optometric Association.
